Customer of the MonthApril

Logan Cheong

It’s that time of the month again when we get the huge honor of announcing our Athlete of the Month for April! Everyone, please give a congratulations and a fist bump to Logan Cheong!! Logan has been working really hard on his fitness and it has been paying off. Not only has he been consistent and steady inside the gym, he has also gotten several PR’s over the last few months. It has been a gift to watch improvements take place and to witness the commitment that Logan has displayed.

Q: How long have you been going to Victory Gym? What changes have you seen in yourself (physically or mentally) since joining?

My first class with Victory was on April 10th, 2023, so about a year! I feel that I have noticed changes in my physical strength, but more so mentally. Managing stress is crucial for the line of work that I am in, and I’ve found that exercise keeps me balanced.

Q: How has your journey at Victory Gym helped you outside the gym?

I start my day by doing something challenging and hard (Crossfit). It sets the tone for the rest of the day. This habit tells me that I am capable of doing hard things. So how has this helped me outside of the gym? It indirectly helps me approach the difficult parts of life. Full Send.

Q: Who inspires you at the gym, and how do they inspire you?

Ego check engaged. In general, I love to have someone in my life who challenges me and is operating on a higher level… I typically have a different person for each of the areas in my life (spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, occupationally, financially, socially, physically, and environmentally). So in the physical aspect of my life as it relates to the gym, that person would be Trevor McBurnett. I have to have someone to chase and I will always be chasing that man lol.

Q: How would you describe what it’s like to be a part of Victory Gym?

What kept me coming back to CrossFit was the community. I see that progressing here, at Victory Gym by the week. Very thankful for all of the people that I have met so far. On the days that I do not want to show up, seeing certain names on the schedule gets me out of bed!

Q:  Tell us about your first day of class at Victory Gym.

I remember meeting Justin Steele, and remember telling myself, “This is the kind of energy that I need in this environment. End of story.”

Q: What is something that we may not know about you?

I was a part of the original hockey league here in Savannah. We started in the YMCA parking lot off Habersham, progressed to Lake Mayer, then my cousin started Savannah Supergoose hockey off Victory Drive (had our own indoor rink), and the rest is history.

Q: What are your top 3 memories or proudest moments in CrossFit?

Back and Front Squat PRs, walking on my hands (for a couple feet), and hugging Jimmy Niemeyer for 30 seconds (one of the Easter Egg challenges). Or having better dance moves than Jordan Gray…

Q: Moving forward, do you have any short-term or long-term goals in the gym?

Double unders (rolling my eyes as I write this), a 300 lbs squat clean, to fully walk on my hands, and to beat Ali in a gymnastic based WOD… THIC boys can move too ;) don’t hate.
