Victory Gym! The coaching staff is so excited to announce that Michael Carp is our June athlete of the month! If you haven’t met Mike, you’re honestly missing out. Mike always shows up with the most positive attitude, ready to learn and better himself. He is incredibly coachable and one of the most humble guys we have in our community. He has been showing up in all arenas and putting in some really hard work with an upbeat growth mindset. We are so proud of you Michael Carp! You’ve been an inspiration and joy to have in our gym! Congratulations!
Q: How long have you been going to Victory Gym? What changes have you seen in yourself (physically or mentally) since joining?
1 year. Definitely getting stronger, feeling more energized, and able to withstand longer periods of stress/strain.
Q: How has your journey at Victory Gym helped you outside the gym?
It’s helped me develop my perseverance, resilience, and growth mindset.
Q: Who inspires you at the gym, and how do they inspire you?
Literally, so many people could be honored here. Ali, Jon, Phil, Trevor for being top performers. Nigel, William, Wyatt, Charles for bringing good vibes. The whole coaching staff for bringing the heat and their support day in and out. There’s not a session I go to without leaving with a full cup thanks to the team.
Q: How would you describe what it’s like to be a part of Victory Gym?
It feels like I’ve found mission partners for my journey toward a richer life physically and mentally.
Q: Tell us about your first day of class at Victory Gym.
It started with a chill vibe, really welcoming and slow paced in the warm up. As we got into more unfamiliar movements everyone was super positive and encouraging.
Q: What is something that we may not know about you?
I played in a marimba/violin duo that performed at Carnegie Hall in 2013.
Q: What are your top 3 memories or proudest moments in CrossFit?
Definitely getting ring and bar muscle-ups felt like a big accomplishment. I also remember the first times doing weighted box step overs at RX weight felt like a new achievement.
Q: Moving forward, do you have any short-term or long-term goals in the gym?
Growth!
